October 28, 2023 The Avedis Foundation recently awarded Shawnee Little Theatre (SLT) with a $22,405 grant to install a hearing-impaired system in its building. With support from Avedis, SLT will now be able to increase its capacity to provide accessible theatre performances to hearing-impaired individuals. “The Avedis Foundation is very proud to support the Shawnee Little Theatre with this grant to help fund a hearing-impaired system,” Avedis Foundation President and CEO Kathy Laster said. “We are extremely fortunate to have a community theatre of this caliber in Shawnee for the citizens of our area.” She said the live, quality state-of-the-art community theatre experience will be enhanced through this technology. “The addition of the new technology will allow Shawnee Little Theatre audiences to better hear and understand the dialog in the shows,” Ronny Jones, SLT managing and artistic director, said. “All in all, it will bring greater enjoyment to our community theatre patrons.” He said Avedis is making one more important investment in Shawnee’s quality of life through greater enjoyment of the arts. “As a totally volunteer nonprofit, Shawnee Little Theatre is very grateful for this grant as we approach our 57th year of producing local live community theatre, totally staffed by volunteers,” Jones said.
